Today is Valentine’s Day, and with love in the air, we thought it only appropriate to pay homage to the very people that enable us to do what we love every day – our clients. Here are just a few key factors for what we believe make a successful client and agency relationship:
Start Building Trust from Day One.
Much like in a romantic relationship, trust is imperative to sustaining a healthy client/agency partnership. For us, that means making sure the trust is built over time. We often find that the most successful partnerships start with a project and build from there. We believe a successful relationship is based on honesty and transparency at every stage in a given project. And that doesn’t happen overnight.
Have Mutual Respect for One Another.
Just as we want our clients to respect the work we bring to the relationship, we understand that our clients play a critical role within their respective organizations. They understand the business environment, intricately understand their company’s business and are marketing experts. Their jobs can often be challenging, but they are the experts in knowing how to navigate internally, which leads to the best result for everyone. We need each other to build and launch a successful campaign.
Always Have Your Partner’s Back.
We believe in the mantra that if our clients look good, we’ve been successful. We want to arm our clients with everything they need to meet their objectives, while ensuring their company’s business objectives are front and center.
Be a Good Listener.
On the flipside of being able to counsel clients in the right direction, the ability for an agency to listen is just as, if not more, important. Most of us agency-folk are born problem solvers, and as such are accustomed to being the ones talking/consulting/guiding. But being a good listener takes practice and we like to think we’ve become better at it the longer we’ve been in the business. We don’t have to be the first one to speak, but instead try to listen to the problem and come back with an actionable plan of attack.
Notice the Small Stuff.
Attention to detail is everything in our business. Think about it – if your S.O. forgot your birthday or that you loathe green beans, how would that make you feel? The same level of detail is necessary with client relationships and project execution. At Seed Factory, we know that if we lose sight of the details the impact won’t be as impressive.
Keep it Interesting.
We’ve all fallen victim to getting stuck in a routine. Especially if it works. But we challenge ourselves to keep it interesting, compelling and memorable. If we are working for a client in an unrelated industry, is there something we can learn from that campaign? As most boutique agencies know, we are always thinking about the next idea and how to keep it fresh. And more importantly, how to bring our clients big ideas to improve their business.
